We are honored to congratulateKuwar Amritbir Singh, an extraordinary influencer on his official nomination for the CFV Spark Awards – Season 1, a prestigious recognition celebrating individuals creating meaningful global impact through their work, wisdom, and innovation.
Turning Broken Bottles into Barbells
With his terrace becoming his training ground and junkyard scraps his gym equipment, Kuwar began a discipline that few could match. He fashioned weights out of cement-filled plastic bottles, used bricks as dumbbells, and created resistance tools from rubber tyres and tubes. Every morning before the sun rose, he was sweating it out on the rooftop—alone, untrained, but fiercely determined.
While others paid for gym memberships, protein powders, and trainers, Kuwar paid in something far more valuable—perseverance, hunger, and pain. Without even a mirror to check his form, he would film his workouts on a basic phone and analyze his movements, learning from his own mistakes and videos of professional athletes.
The First Victory—And Then Many More
In 2020, his hard work paid off when he set his first world record for most pushups with claps behind the back in one minute. That record opened the floodgates. In the span of three years, he went on to break 33 world records, including three Guinness World Records, and earned a place in elite record books like Limca Book of Records, WRCA, Elite World Records, and even the Ukraine Book of Records, becoming the first Indian ever to achieve that honor.
These weren’t just titles—they were proof that a village boy with no equipment, no training, and no funding could still stand on the world stage.
From Isolation to Inspiration
As his records piled up, so did his influence. Kuwar wasn’t just lifting weights—he was lifting spirits. His story began to resonate with thousands of youth in Punjab who, like him, felt lost or rejected. His terrace became a symbol of hope, and his videos began going viral.
Soon, he was invited to speak at TEDx, and then Josh Talks, where his message echoed across India: You don’t need much to start; you just need a reason strong enough to keep going. His mission to fight drug addiction through fitness became central to his identity. He became a youth ambassador for Punjab’s anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nasheya De Virudh”, the SVEEP Icon for the Election Commission, and the Fitness Icon of United Sikhs.
The 5-Rupee Fitness Movement
While others opened gyms with monthly fees, Kuwar started training village kids for just ₹5 per session, a symbolic amount that made his training accessible to even the poorest youth. He called it the “5 Rupay Wala Fitness”—a movement that not only built bodies but transformed mindsets. The money collected was reinvested to buy water bottles, towels, and mats for his students.
He wasn’t chasing riches; he was building a legacy.
From Terrace to Television
Kuwar’s unorthodox journey also led him to television. In 2022, he appeared as a contestant in “Punjabiya Di Dadagiri”, a popular TV show hosted by cricketing legend Harbhajan Singh, where he finished as 2nd Runner-Up. His energetic persona and humble story struck a chord with audiences across Punjab.
In 2023, he transitioned to the entertainment world, starring as the lead in the action-packed Punjabi music video “Sheesha”, alongside singer Kambi Rajpuria, marking his debut as a young action hero in the regional film industry.
Pursuing Knowledge Alongside Power
Amidst all the fame and recognition, Kuwar never abandoned education. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Political Science (2nd year) from Khalsa College, Amritsar, balancing his academic pursuits with his intense training regimen, public appearances, and community leadership.
A Symbol of Grit, Grace, and Grounded Glory
Kuwar Amritbir Singh stands today not just as a world record holder, but as a symbol of grit and grassroots revolution. His story is not of privilege, but of perseverance born out of pain, and strength sculpted through struggle. He didn’t just break records—he broke mindsets, proving that one doesn’t need polished floors and chrome dumbbells to build greatness.
His nomination for the CFV Spark Awards – Season 1 is a tribute to the power of raw will, desi innovation, and unwavering focus. It celebrates a young man who turned rejection into recognition, and rubble into resilience.
“Failure pushed me down—but fitness gave me the strength to rise for myself, and then for others.” — Kuwar Amritbir Singh
